Everybody who has ever tried to talk to me about multi level marketing has always told me that I can do it part time and still succeed, but that is simply not the case. 80 percent of small business owners fail in 5 years even if they are working at it full time, and multi level marketing is no exception. It is a small business, just like any other small business, and it requires a large investment of resources before the money coming in is larger than the money that has been spent on tools to build the business and gas to drive around talking to people and business cards and brocures, etc. Most people who succeed at multi level marketing end up paying hundreds if not thousands of dollars before the income ends up being higher than all of the money spent in the process of trying to get the dog gone thing off the ground. There is no brick & mortar investment, so it is still a good deal compared to other small business investments, but it is still has the same risk of failure as any other small business attempt.
Not to mention that even if you succeed, half of your friends and family and most of the people who know you will think you have lost your damn mind, because most people don’t understand that it is a legitimate small business opportunity. Jerome Hughs in Macon Georgia became a millionaire in YTB Travel, and his neighbors were still trying to kick him out of the Lizella lakeside neighborhood that he lived in because they did not want a person who succeeded in multi level marketing living next to them. Before you become successful most people will think you are getting ripped off, and after you become successful most people will think you are ripping everybody else off. So I guess that is the trade off for not having a huge capital investment to start off with, but there is still an 80 percent risk of failing withing 5 years.
But, on the positive side, it is a lot of fun to spend lots of time around positive people who are all excited and working hard to become successful. That was the fun thing about YTB Travel for me. But now I’m too busy in school, but they try to act like everybody will succeed at it with nothing but a part time effort. I think that is a dog gone lie!
