Carter: Racism plays major role in opposition to Obama – CNN.com.

Why yes Mr. Carter that is EXACTLY it!  It couldn’t be the 1000+ page boondoggle of bill or even the mere idea of government trying to care for 300 Million people.  I mean, that’s only 600 million first and last names to track… what could POSSIBLY go wrong?

  1. I honestly cannot tell if he is sincere or just saying whatever he thinks will keep him relevant.

  2. I just read on CNN that Bill Cosby made a written statement saying that he agrees with Carter on this issue. I guess Cosby and Carter are both getting too old to be making comments on the national scene. They should both just go play a game of golf and enjoy being old and leave the political commentary to those of us who are not yet senile.

  3. I don’t see how age-ism is any better then racism, I think we are too dismissive of the aged in this country… (at the same time we’re also held a bit to hostage to their penchant for voting at every occasion). I haven’t seen the Cosby statement and I don’t begrudge either of them their own views… I just don’t agree.

  4. Yeah, but guess what? Age is something that every single human being has in common. Many people will never be a woman. Many people will never be a black person. But everybody will get old. So, I don’t think that age-ism, as you call it, is anywhere near as bad as racism. Furthermore, when I get so old that I am calling entire groups racist for no good reason on national TV, then I really really hope that somebody will do me a favor and tell me to shut up and go home. LOL

You are a nicer person than I am, SK, because when I hear that a public figure has used their power on national TV to call an entire group of people racist, it makes me very angry. If all you hear me say about them is that they have gotten too old, then you have heard the nice version of what I was thinking about them!

(Also, the news that I read about Bill Cosby is found on the link you posted above, but I think the page may have been updated after you posted the link.)
