I like the fact that Clark Howard sounds old and boring, possibly because it makes me think that he might actually be telling me the truth. And he has a couple of really cute sounding girls on his show that he jokes around with which I think is really cute. And he has that self deprecating thing going with the Clark Stinks segment which makes me think that he isn’t trying to hide anything. I thought Dave Ramsey’s explanation of the bailout situation was awesome when he went on that rant talking about how he was going to vote against all of the politicians who he voted for in the past but who have now voted for the bailout. I think he got in trouble for that rant on Fox Business, because the next day he had retreated to a more philosophical viewpoint and was playing devils advocate with his callers that were trying to parrot what he had said the day before. That impressed me that Dave Ramsey is apparently very good at arguing either side of the issue. Clark Howard never gets that heated. He just calmly explains clever ways to save money for all of us who enjoy being cheap skates. I really need to enjoy being a cheap skate more often. I live my life like a spoiled American.

-Be very careful when marrying someone that is an illegal immigrant. It can be very hard to know if they are with you because of love or the green card.
-Never co-sign a credit card/car with a lover or spouse.
-Avoiding mixing any finances or legal issues together.
What? Is that supposed to be advice?
1) You don’t just automatically get residency because you’re married to an American. It is an extremely LONG process and it’s probably not going to work out well for you if you are in the country illegally, regardless of your marriage situation. For women who are illegal but mother children who are American citizens, citizenship or residency may come more easily… But even then, I wouldn’t hedge your best there.
2) You should share everything with your spouse. The attitude of “His” and “Hers” contributes to the idea that marriage (and subsequently, divorce) is just a negotiation of cohabitation. Marriage is so much more. It is a partnership and should be treated as such.
You think you are being wise, but you are not being very cognizant of humanity or reality.
