There are apparently a lot of conservatives who think Google is evil because most of Google’s employees donate money to the democrat party. Microsoft, on the other hand has employees who mostly donate money to the republican party. But lets take a look at some interesting differences between the two companies. Microsoft has been known to do anything and everything to heartlessly bury the competition. Conservatives claim that this is all part of a happy capitalist society. Okay, maybe so, but lets take a look at Google. It would be easy for Google to bury the competition with a totally user friendly Task Application which fully integrates into everything else Google. (Yes, apparently Google is the Sony of the Internet.) But, despite a growing chorus of complainers, Google has chosen not to introduce a Task Application. Coincidentally, there is a totally user friendly Task Application called Remember The Milk which is just as good, if not better than anything Google could have come up with! It appears that Google is compassionate enough of a corporation, that they are willing to be nice to RTM (“the little guy”) by not introducing a Google version. Microsoft, on the other hand, would gladly bury the little guy at any and every opportunity, right? So, I find it interesting that conservatives are hateful towards google for having a bunch of liberal employees and executives, but I can’t help but wonder what the United States would be like if more companies took a compassionate approach towards capitalism, the way Google appears to be doing things.
I’m probably completely wrong about this, but I thought it was one of my more interesting theories, so I thought I would throw it here onto my blog to see if I get any nibbles. I’ve never been good at figuring out which of my ideas are the best ideas, so I’ll just let the people of the Internet decide!
